U13 Girls Football Tournament

On Monday morning, the U13 Girls Football Team played their final games of the season at the Central Warwickshire Tournament hosted by Myton School. The squad consisted of five Year 8 students and three Year 7 students, playing a four 6 a-side games. Their first game was against Myton, an extremely even game with both sides attacking hard. Ada made a fantastic save preventing Myton form taking an early lead in the game. Unfortunately, Myton took the win with a late goal (0-1). However, the tournament wasn’t over with 3 more games a piece. Next up was Aylesford 2 with some great goals by Ella and Bethan and an incredible assisted touch by Ila, allowing Southam to get their first win of 5-0. The third game saw the team take on Aylesford 1, disciplined tackles and pressure applied by Bella and Sophie in defence allowed Holly and Ila to produce some great through balls up to Connie and Ella in attack. The game ended with a 3-0 Southam win. The final game was against Campion with Southam again putting lots of pressure on from the start. Great use of width allowed the ball to be taking up the pitch quickly, keeping Campion on the defense. Southam took a third win with another 3-0 result. The overall win for the tournament was extremely close coming down to the result of the last game by the other teams. Despite being the highest scoring team in the competition, the team came second.

The girls played fantastically and have really come on as a team this year.

Well done to everyone involved in the Girls Football season this year!
