Our year 7s took a 40-minute trip down the road to Nicholas Chamberlaine School in their new Philadelphia 76ers kit who they are representing in the Jr NBA competition. The team started well offensively scoring lots on the fastbreak but defensively were sloppy, which kept the game close at halftime. Sam was the driving force on offence but Raff’s communication on defence was crucial which kept the game close. Early in the second half, Southam took a 5-point lead which was quickly decreased by some good Basketball by Nicholas Chamberlaine. Southam played some great Basketball, and Mr Jeffries and Mrs Turton were so proud of their effort throughout the whole game as they gave their all.
Southam lost by 1 point, 22-21. The year 7s deserved more but they represented the school brilliantly and have loads of positives to take from the game moving forward. The player of the match award goes to Sam for an excellent performance, who just beat Mason to the award who performed amazingly on the defensive end for Southam.
More Basketball after the Christmas break!
