Year 7 Jr NBA – Match Report

On Monday 28th November, our year 7 Basketball team started their Jr NBA campaign as they represented the Philadelphia 76ers and took on the Toronto Raptors (Bablake School) and Boston Celtics (Barr’s Hill).

We played our first game against the Boston Celtics (Barr’s Hill) and the 76ers started well, scoring some good early baskets, passing, and moving well up the court. Oscar scored some nice baskets and the team got lots of rebounds and many players contribed to the scoring. In the second half, Philadelphia managed to continue to score and play some good defence to stop the Boston Celtics attack. Philadelphia brought the ball up the floor with pace and skill all game and made things happen on offense as the 76ers won convincingly 12-0. Philadelphia’s second game saw them play a very strong Toronto Raptors who took control of the game early on and scored lots of baskets in the first quarter. Some lovely baskets from Rafferty in the second quarter saw the 76ers starting to come back into the game. Despite Toronto being very strong, the 76ers continued to play some great basketball. The game finished 6-20 to Toronto. The pupils represented the Southam College and the Philadelphia 76ers brilliantly and, for most, it was their first experience of a competitive basketball game and they thoroughly enjoyed it!!

The year 7 team have two more fixtures before half term so training is going to be really important for the next few weeks.
