Southam Super Swimmers

On Tuesday 29th November the famous Southam swimming gala returned to our house competition. It was lovely to see all our swimmers representing their houses in a well contested gala.

The morning started with the year 8 and 9 girls gala. The Godiva girls stole the show winning both galas with outstanding swimming from Lucy D (yr9) winning both the breaststroke and the free style. Tammy M secured the yr8 win with wins in the butterfly and breaststroke.

The second slot saw the year 7s take to the pool. The Godiva golden girls continued their domination and took the year 7 girls event too thanks to fantastic swimming from Grace C taking the breaststroke and butterfly and Isabell P winning the backstroke.

The year 7 boys event was more evenly spread with wins coming from all houses from Harvey K-V (WE, breaststroke), Morgan J (WH, front crawl and butterfly) and Alex M (GV, backstroke). Webb Ellis managed to sneak the win thanks to some fantastic team swims.

The final slot was for the year 8 and 9 boys. The Whittle boys grouped together to produce some fantastic swims with sports captain Tom N leading by example winning the breaststroke and butterfly and team mate Josh L winning the backstroke. The boys relay teams also snuck 1st and 2nd in the relay.

The year 9 boys finished in the pool and we were blown away by Jack B (WE) winning both the butterfly and front crawl convincingly. The other houses put up a fight with Tudor C (WH) winning the backstorke and Felix B (GV) winning the breaststroke but Webb Ellis were too strong.

Well done to everyone who took part in the event it was great to see and celebrate so many great performances. Keep your eyes peeled for more house events to help support your house in the competition.

Well done,

Mrs Turton
